Colleen Moore moved around a great deal, but in her autobiography she describes the first home she and her (first) husband, John McCormick, purchased:
"Since we were both doing so well now, we bought a house out in the new Wilshire district — an eight room Italian style house with a large garden in back. … John hated antiques. He liked nice Grand Rapids department-store furniture. That's what we bought. Mother positively shivered at my dining room with its expensive inlaid bastard Spanish-English-French dining room, iron gates, and floor-length red velvet drapes under gold valances. John and I thought it was grand."
